Chunking
Chunking educational material involves breaking down instructional material into smaller, more digestible amounts of information, or "chunks" of material. These smaller chunks of material are often more easily processed and understood, which also helps in storing the information into our short-term memories, and for longer storage and retrieval into our long term memories.
Chunking also helps reduce anxiety when students sometimes feel overwhelmed by the amount of work on a page. You can chunk material by the amount of material presented. You can also chunk material by time spent on the educational material by taking a natural break between types of material presented.
Here are a couple videos that demonstrate how to chunk educational material visually.
