Sophia Ortega graduated from CSU Channel Islands with a Bachelor of Science in Business. Teaching young children was her true passion, so she attended California Lutheran University, where she completed her Multiple Subject Teaching Credential and Master's of Education. Shortly after, she began her teaching career at MATES in 4th grade.
This is Mrs. Ortega's 6th year teaching at MATES, and it is her fourth year on the first grade team. She loves being a part of the MATES community and looks forward to a fun and exciting school year! In her spare time, Mrs. Ortega loves traveling, spending time relaxing, home projects, shopping, and enjoying quality time with her friends and family. She has one daughter, Ada (10 months), and one wild puppy, Cruz. Mrs. Ortega can’t wait to collaborate, learn, and grow with her students throughout the school year!
