High Frequency Words or By Heart Words

Ways To Practice Your By-Heart Words At Home
 
1. Spell words with alphabet macaroni or alphabet cereal.They could be glued to a paper or just placed on a hard surface.
 
 

2. Use magnetic letters on the refrigerator or a cookie sheet.

 

 

3. Shaving cream is always a hit! Squirt some out on a counter top and let your child write the words with their finger.

 

 

4. Cut letters out from magazines or a newspaper and glue them to a paper.

 

 

5. Use Wikki Sticks to bend the letters to form each word.

 

 

6. Take turns saying the letters in the word aloud until the word is completely spelled.

 

 

7. Use Crayola window markers to spell the words on the windows!

 

 

8. Use gel pens or other fun markers/pens to add some interest when writing the words.

 

 

9. Time your child to see how many times they can write a word in 30 seconds.

 

10. Rainbow words are fun, too! Write a word with a crayon and then go back over it again with a different color.

 

11. Write the words with white or yellow crayon and then paint over them with watercolors.

 

12. Write the words on your child's back with your finger (or they could on yours). They can guess which word it is.

 

13. Spell the words with Scrabble letters or alphabet tiles.


14. Use sidewalk chalk to spell them on your driveway or sidewalk at home.

 

15. Use a paintbrush to “paint” them with water on the sidewalk or driveway.

 

16. Make the letters out of cookie dough. Bake and eat!


17.Form the letters with play dough.


18. Find a book on how to write fancy letters. Write the words with them!

 

19. Type out the words on the computer in different fonts.
