Why Support the Foundation?
The Foundation is dedicated to helping MATES achieve its financial goals so that all students experience an enriched public education.
Your donations will help provide:
• Class Size Reduction for all grades
The MATES Foundation is proud to announce our first donation to MATES through the hiring of teacher aids for all three kindergarten classes beginning in January 2010. The kindergarten class size will now go from a 20:1 student to teacher ratio to a 10:1 ratio. With your help we can make this a reality for ALL the classes at MATES.
• Field Trip Scholarships
The MATES Foundation is proud to have funded scholarships to MATES in order to pay for the travel and lodging expenses of three 4th grade students with financial needs to travel to Sacramento for the California history trip in May 2010.
• Guitars in the Classroom
The MATES Foundation was happy to help bring Guitars in the Classroom at no cost to MATES. Guitars in the Classroom trains and equips classroom teachers to integrate singing and playing guitar into children’s daily school experiences. By providing instruction, access to instruments, resource materials, and program supervision, GITC empowers educators to transform classrooms into musical environments that bring out the best in every student, engaging them in studies across the curriculum. GITC launches and supports the development of regional programs nationwide. There are many corporate sponsors that have helped to make this program possible. You can see the full list by visiting our Corporate Sponsors page.
