Our Executive Director, Brenda Olshever grew up in the Conejo Valley, and upon graduation from Westlake High School attended California State University Northridge (CSUN) where she received her bachelor’s degree and multiple subjects teaching credential. She began her teaching career in the Sulphur Springs School District in the Santa Clarita Valley. After teaching there for nine years she returned to the Conejo Valley where she joined the Meadows Elementary School staff. In 2006 she continued her education at CSUN and earned her masters degree in Educational Administration along with her Administrative Credential. When the district voted to close Meadows, she learned of the parents’ plan to create a charter. She became a proponent of the charter, and subsequently, a founding teacher. She has served on the curriculum committee, Teacher Advisory Committee and was the Teacher in Charge. The success of MATES is near and dear to her heart as she truly believes in our teaching philosophy with the infusion of art and technology into the curriculum.
